ARR Subscriptions and Mailing Lists

A new feature has been added to the Adventure Race Reports site!

ARR now supports both forum subscriptions and mailing lists! Traditionally, to keep track of new articles on ARR, members would have to visit the ARR site and see what new articles have been posted. Now, with the forum subscriptions enabled, it's possible to have all of the new topics (for example, race reports) sent directly to your email address.

Not only that, but members can now also post topics on the ARR site directly by email!

Essentially, this new feature is a "bridge" between the forum website world and the email digest world. Messages posted on the website are sent to the members on the mailing list, and messages sent out to the mailing list are posted on the website.

To use this new feature, you'll now see a Subscriptions link in the main menu bar at the top of each page. Clicking on this link will bring up a page where you can select which mailing list you want to be a part of. From then on, any new topics which are posted (either on the site or by email) will be automatically mailed to you. You can change your subscription settings at any time, simply by clicking the subscribe / unsubscribe buttons.

The mailing lists are still in beta testing right now, and so far they look great! If you decide to use them, please let me know how they work out for you, especially if you notice any problems.

Well, the automated article delivery seems to be working great! If anyone wants to join in, just click on the "Subscriptions" link on the top menu bar. You can select which forums you want to see in your email, and whenever a new post appears, it will automatically be sent to you (it works just like the Yahoo Groups do). And of course you can opt-out at any time by clicking on the same menu!
