Best of

Easily the best race report I've read here (and the best I think I've ever read) was Pat Gallagher's on the Subaru Primal Quest.

Second best is Austin Murphy's Appalachian Extreme 2003 recap. It should probably take top spot, but it wasn't so funny when we were actually doing it!

And here's a "Best Stories" vote from Gordon:

Hey, Dave, I have to submit WEDALI's race report for the BEST OF.

This is a great example of the genre, with humor, emotion, and great lessons for all racers.

Gordon Wright

Our spirits were a bit lagging, being passed and wrestling with the boat that ALWAYS wanted to turn right, so Justin thought it would be fun for us to talk like pirates.
To other teams.
“Ahoy Maties!” “Shiver me timbers!”
Scooter was having none of it, in a bit of agony over an old shoulder injury, and the other teams mostly tried to get away from us asap. However, this didn’t deter Justin, and I joined in with my parrot imitation (which I think is GREAT, but it didn’t draw rave reviews from my teammates)

Here's a vote from Gordon Wright, for Karl and Cynthia Royer's account on Big Blue Castaic '05:

I think the Royers may have an Editor's Choice pick from me. This feature from the back of the pack makes it clear just how competitive every team is in a race. But moreso, it exemplifies the best in couples communicating well and enjoying themselves.

Gordon

And you can find their report here:
Once we got moving again we finished the hike a bike, rode down a steep hill and up the other side to CP9. Just as we got to the CP there they were again…the coed team…they were back! We looked at each other in disbelief. Who are these guys? We felt like Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid!!

Nite and Day Challenge Report by Dirty Avocadoes

Postby trainDaBrain on Sun Jun 19, 2005 9:33 am

My stomach is still hurting over the story of the attack of the croquet-players. Who plays capture-the-flag with someone who doesn't even know they're playing the game? You poor bastards! :) So far one of my favorite stories. Next to my BAAR Brawl skunk story of course ;)

Cyclepath

Postby Andrew_Cory on Thu Jun 01, 2006 3:09 pm

Team Cyclepath’s report on Cal Eco Kernville 2006 was definitely among the best I’ve seen. What brought it home for me was that it was a report by _team_ Cyclepath, not merely individual members. I hope in the future other teams will start letting their whole group participate in the debrief...
