Best Stories links are now active!

I've put a few of the best ones in the Best Stories 2 link in the top menu bar. And, HOPEFULLY, some of the ARR readers will let others know which ones they think are the best -- most humorous, most insightful, most educational, whatever! Now that we're getting so many reports and stories on the site here, it would be really good to have some quick links to the most interesting ones....

Submit your own best stories to the Best Stories 1 link in the top menu!

The 2004 Race Calendar is now on-line! To see all the races for 2004 in a graphical layout, go to the ARR calendar at:

Image

http://www.zdap.com/racereports/calendar/index.htm

You can click on the race names to get more information about the particular races -- and for those races that have already passed, clicking on the race name will bring you directly to the race reports!

As always, if you know of a race that isn't on the calendar yet, please let others know about it by posting the race in the Upcoming Races section of this site.

Enjoy!

Adventure Race Reports now publishes a syndicated RSS feed!

Imagehttp://www.zdap.com/racereports/rss.php

If you'd like to have the latest adventure race stories, reviews, and reports automatically presented on your website (or even desktop), you can now use our RSS (XML) newsfeed. The feed consists of all recent postings to the Adventure Races category.

See here for details.

Registered users can now have pictures / logos appear next to their name in the article postings! This can be especially useful for clubs and race sponsors -- it gives a little bit of "extra publicity" for your organization!

Image

Adding an image ("avatar") is simple. Just click on the Profile tab (top menu bar), and at the bottom of the page you can select an image you want to use. The image can either be on your hard drive (will automatically upload to the site) or on a remote web site. You can change/delete the image at any time, and they'll automatically appear on your articles and postings.

Only two restrictions:
* The image file size must be < 10k
* The image can't be any more than 80 pixels tall or wide

Have fun,

Dave

Course Maps

Postby Dave on Sun Mar 28, 2004 3:44 pm

AR Course Maps

New at ARR! Race directors, you can now post course maps from your favorite adventure races!

Simply upload your course map to Adventure Race Reports using the following link on the posting screen:

Image

Maximum file size is limited ot 3 megabytes, and the map will automatically be copied into a smaller-sized thumbnail suitable for inclusion in your race report. As an example, you can check out Sierra Adventure Sports map for the 2004 Desert Rage I course here, or the series of maps for the 2003 SMAC Sprint here.

Enjoy,

Dave

The ARR Bookstore!

Adventure Racing and Multi-Sport Books!

A new feature to Adventure Race Reports is an Affiliate Partnership with Barnes & Noble.com. The ARR "Bookstore" is under development, but I plan to add only books which are useful to adventure racers and multi-sport athletes. You can preview the ARR Bookstore HERE -- and, if you have any suggestions for books you think would help others learn more about the disciplines involved in AR, let me know!

Visit the ARR Bookstore -- Click here.

Have fun!

Printer-Friendly Pages!

A minor addition to the ARR site now includes a "printer-friendly" link on each page! The software to create this function was a little bit complex, but the function is simple. In order to print out a race story or any other article on the site, just click on the icon:

Image

and this will open up a new window with a "clean" version of the article, ready for printing!

Have fun,

Dave

The 2005 Adventure Racing Calendar

I've been working hard to get every possible adventure-racing event listed on the 2005 Adventure Racing Calendar, and there sure are a lot of things scheduled for this year!! (maybe even more than 2004?!)

You can view the calendar in two formats, graphical (like a wall-calendar) and list (a sorted list of events). Here are the links:

Graphical:
http://www.zdap.com/racereports/calendar/index2005.php

Sorted by Name and by Region:

Email Subscriptions to ARR!

Image

You can now get the latest items posted on the ARR site delivered directly to your email!

Traditionally, to keep track of new articles on ARR, members would have to visit the ARR site and see what new articles have been posted. Now, with the forum subscriptions enabled, it's possible to have all of the new topics (for example, race reports) sent directly to your email address.

Not only that, but members can now also post topics to the ARR site directly by email!

Essentially, this new feature is a "bridge" between the forum website world and the email world. Messages posted on the website are sent to the members on the mailing list, and messages sent out to the mailing list are posted on the website.

To use this new feature, members will now see a Subscriptions link in the main menu bar at the top of each page. Clicking on this link will bring up a page where you can select which mailing list you want to be a part of. From then on, any new topics which are posted (either on the site or by email) will be automatically mailed to you. You can change your subscription settings at any time, simply by clicking the subscribe / unsubscribe buttons.

Have fun!
