DAY 3 - Dune Day

Its 50 degrees in the dunes and no wind: Yes its dune day. Above me is a 200-foot dune followed by another and another for a total of 8K.

You drive and push up the dune lungs bursting and at the summit you graciously slide down he other side hoping that the sand doesn’t get in your shoes.

The day started at 6am with crowing in the distance. The Sky turns to a mid blue to announce the dawn. Around you is a group of heaving snoring bodies in sleeping bags...

Matt Wilson has a great review (including pictures!) from his experiences during the 150-mile race across the Sahara Desert on the c-r-y site:

...It was day 3 that things started to go badly wrong for me. Today was a 38km stage that was more or less flat the whole way. It was the day before the 82km stage so people were taking it a little easier than previous days. I started off quite well reaching the first 10km in 1 hour. I got my water ration and plodded on...

Hey Everyone!
What a crazy racz this year. The rumor is Patrick wanted to make this edition tougher then desert cup and I think he has done it! The stages have been longer, hotter, with the biggest dunes I have ever seen!

Stage 3 was approx. 41 kms and had these huge and I mean huge dunes! The temps were rumored to have hit 55 degrees
celcius and I believe it. I finished the stage with a bit of luck navigating through the dunes and saving huge time. I finished 36th which made me 33...
