Raid the North Championships - ON, Canada - 2003

Team Spirit Canada has a great review of the 2003 RTN Championships, held in Mattawa, Ontario:

...I hate trekking on roads. I particularly hate it when I am sleep deprived because I have two options. Run or fall asleep. In this race I mastered the 'art/skill' of falling asleep while walking and NOT falling down and hurting myself. I just slowly came to a halt and woke up standing alone, sometimes facing the right direction and then scampered after the disappearing headlamps in the distance...

The Running Free Outdoors site has a VERY detailed review on the Raid the North Championships (Mattawa) race here:

...A less than smooth start continued as we attended the pre-race briefing and found out the maps had not arrived yet. Some teams bought topos and began plotting points while others plotted the route on other less detailed maps to get a sense of the course. We were to reconvene again at midnight to receive the full set of maps...

And another one here from Team Treehuggers:
...The ATV trail sometimes followed the powerline corridor, but often travelled into the forest on the east or west of it. Because there were a few forks in the trail, I constantly kept track of which side of the powerline corridor we were on so we would make the right choice at intersections...
