The 2005 AROC 24 Hour Urban Adventure race was held in Canberra, Australia on March 5th and 6th, 2005. The event featured trekking, mountain biking, and kayaking while navigating the streets and bushland of Canberra. There are numerous reports on the AROCSport website:

...Back at the transition 7 min down and in 2nd place we grabbed our tubes and started the tubing leg. I think everyone had a rough ride over the waves in this leg but we didn’t really gain or lose anything in this section apart from swallowing a heap of water. Picking up the kayak we chased the Stingers around the paddle and had an equal time. Checkpoint 11 was interesting, as we paddled in I was thinking that it had taken ages for the Stingers to come out of the little bay and then as we turned to punch the control I found out why...

...A long bike leg followed, punctuated by the odd “moment” and the amusement of Keith taking the best possible tumble into deep sand which had rapidly stopped his forward progress in Tuggeranong pines. A big moment x3 occurred shortly afterwards when fast steep downhill bitumen dropped off into not nice rutted rocky mess which caught us all out in the changing light...

...Back at the city, we pile out of the bus and set out on foot for the Museum again. My legs are getting sore and stiff after the last 15kms on foot, so fast walking seems to be the best solution. We arrive not long after those teams that ran or shuffled back, around 2:30pm, five and a half hours after starting...
